For the last 16 years I have worked as a high school art teacher in northern Indiana. My primary educational focus is photography and graphic design. As an artist and collector of images my work tends to include mid-west inspired rustic, textural, and earthy elements. I like to collect visual trinkets with my camera and then recompose them into fabricated compositions. My graphic work also resembles sculpture in the way it deals with the illusion of space and the construction and balance of parts.
In the summer of 2011 I underwent a Lilly funded grant titled, Portraying the Amish, that enabled me to work as an artist in Kalona, Iowa. I spent my days on Amish farms getting to know the people and the farm life. The experience was captured in a series of drawings, watercolor paintings, and photographs.
